Using Jars And Bottles In
Different Ways
By: Mac Rusell
I have always been a creative sort of person and just love cooking, especially making jam. I
also adore making wine and often have a wee tipple in the evening. It is often quite difficult to find jam jars,
however while browsing online I came across an excellent supplier. They have round or hexagonal shaped glass jars,
just the ticket for my requirements.
Metal twist-off lids are also available which keep the jam fresh and tasting good. For a real
country kitchen look I found red and white checked material jam jar “lids” at reasonable prices. To finish my
product off I also bought some fancy labels and wrote, in my best hand-writing, the flavour of the jam and when it
was made. My friends and family love receiving one of my jams as a gift.
Wine making has been an interest of mine for some time now. I got a taste for wine from all
the meetings and parties I attended while I was employed in the advertising business. There were so many wines to
choose from that I thought why not make some myself, maybe something a little different. I love a drop of
elderberry wine, one of my favourite tipples.
Finding suitable wine bottles was very difficult at first but again the internet came to the
rescue. Glass bottles are obviously the best as wine is sometimes fermented in the bottle itself. There are lots of
different shapes, colours and sizes of bottles to choose from, some using corks as stoppers, some with screw top
caps. I do prefer the screw top kind as corks can sometimes break. With my past experience of wine stoppers, I have
certainly had “cork” troubles.
You can also use jars and bottles for so many things. Bath salts, cosmetics and jam are
usually found in jars while drinks, such as beer, wine, fizzy drinks and milk as well as medicine, are stored in
bottles. With the amount of jam and wine I make, I have an avid interest in jars and bottles. I do like a smooth
glass surface; there are a variety of shapes of bottles and jars you can buy. I’ve become something of an expert
regarding these containers.
Now back to my jam making. What could be more delicious than home-made strawberry jam, with
the fruit being picked fresh from the garden. My love for cooking stems from when I was quite young, my mother was
a great cook and I suppose she must have passed this on to me.
I also have a collection of different shaped jars and bottles, displaying them in a glass unit in
my kitchen. It’s something I have been interested in for years. Each time I go on holiday, I buy a jar or
bottle from the local market to add to it.
I have a couple of bottles purchased from Italy which I adore. One is a gorgeous colour of
dark blue while the other is a deep red, both reflect the sunlight and always remind me of what a wonderful holiday
I enjoyed.
If you are an individual or small company,
you know how difficult it is to source certain things that although commonplace, it's not quite that simple when
you come to get them. However if you are olooking for some greatglass bottles then check out this wonderful online store. They have some fantastic
designs and ranges and the ever favouritejam jars. For all youe bespoke packaging needs, take a look today, I'm sure you
will find something that suits.
